Hardwood’s hottest trends

THE EMERGENCE OF THESE DARKER TONES AS A TREND HAS GIVEN PEOPLE AND DESIGNERS MORE SHADES TO CHOOSE FROM

Hardwood is one of the oldest and most traditional building materials known to man, having a centuries-long history of use in everything from ships to furniture. However, people are always finding new ways to produce and be creative with this particular type of timber, so we decided to take a look at what hardwood trends are popular right now.

Here at Quercus, we provide a wide range of hardwoods and excellent service, but what really sets us apart is our passion for timber. As part of this, we always aim to keep up to date with current trends, new technology and other innovations.

One of the standout trends in the use of hardwood at the moment is a focus on darker woods and, in particular, flooring. You may have seen these styles featured in different magazines and style publications as dark flooring is very popular at the moment, with people using species like black walnut to create a warm, sophisticated look.

The emergence of these darker tones as a trend has given people and designers more shades to choose from, and we all know how much of a difference a bold colour can make. Often, these darker flooring options are used in contrast to lighter, bright furniture.

Another trend to emerge in recent months has been an increase in demand for reclaimed/recycled woods, as consumers are becoming increasingly aware of environmental issues. As you will already know, we place a huge importance on protecting the environment that is so crucial to our industry, and are FSC certified.

Because of this, we are glad to see that more and more people are choosing to go for recycled woods and sustainably sourced materials which not only look great but also come with the satisfaction that you are sourcing responsibly.

One more trend that is still prominent in hardwood at the moment is the use of grey wood floors, with the neutral, calming colour being used in homes, studios, galleries and many other places. Also, distressed hardwoods with rustic, elegant looks are still remaining popular.

We stock a wide range of hardwoods and flooring options, which you can check out here!
